Why i dislike Marvel part 2

In my previous post, i ranted IMO about how I had stared to dislike Marvel because of Civil War. I don't hate the entire company because of a seven year old story-line and i'm not bashing Marvel because i have a dc icon. I like Marvel, I love their cartoons and i enjoy the Infinity Gauntlet books. My post http://scans-daily.dreamwidth.org/4546008.html was about how Marvel's Civil War first started to rub me the wrong way.

It wasn't the comic itself that made me not like Marvel anymore, it was IMO their tropes and plot devices that they use in their books. Also I'm not a fan of how they keep rushing an event comic after an event comic. Some of them are forgettable such as "Fear Itself".



I feel the sole reason why this event comic was made was to capitalize on the Thor and Captain America movies.

Also IMHO, i feel that Marvel is trying way to hard to capitalize on the success of the Avengers movie. I get it, it was an awesome movie, the build up was good and i watched in theaters twice. Marvel doesn't have to shove it's awesomeness down our throats with a live action series, non-stop event comics and replacing enjoyable, well written cartoons such as Spectacular Spider-man and Avengers EMH with a dumbed down spider-man cartoon and a lame Avengers cartoon which ties itself to the movies. With the box office success of that movie, i think Marvel should not have any money problems like they did in the dork age of comics back in the 90's.

The "Civilians who show distrust and hate towards the hero" trope isn't my one and only problem when it comes to getting into Marvel or any other book from any other comic publisher, it also feels like IMO that heroes are turning into abrasive and brooding jerks. When the good guys or the people in a comic that you're supposed to root for are unlikable dicks, you just don't care.



I understand that not all hero vs hero stories are bad. There are some that are well written, but when Marvel has their hero vs hero event comic, you really don't care who wins. Also they turned my favorite characters Captain America and Cyclops into jerks in their AVX comic.



So there, I pointed out why IMHO, that some of their comics and shows has REALLY TURNED ME OFF from Marvel, they turnout event comic without taking a break and their pandering to kids by over posing Spider-man and by milking the Avengers Movie. Next time i'll talk about what i HATE about the new 52 in DC Comics.
